Title Font and Design

As a background for the film title and billing blocks we decided we could use a page full of doodles, similar to the one used for 'Archie's Final Project'. Doodles on notepads are typically associated with young students, so this would link to our main character very well. Especially if we include her thoughts(such as in the picture below where in the thought bubble it states 'i don't like myself') and drawings to reflects how or what she is feeling.

This is the doodle (drawn by a friend) which we will use for our background. We wanted to make it look like our main character has drawn the images whilst experiencing bullying, abuse and contemplating taking her own life. We used phrases such as 'Help me', 'Leave me alone' and 'Go away' to represent her feelings towards other characters, and also to involve the viewer. The images also give an insight into the characters mindset - for example, the light(the candle) in the dark suggest our character is feeling some kind of hope, however, it may also imply that there are always eyes in the dark, so her bullies are always watching her, forcing her to accept her fate.

Below is the finished background image. To create this our group member Sonia layered an 'old paper' image over the doodles, and added in a lighter inner glow to focus the eye where the title would be. The vintage paper effect links to our protagonists' unusual 50's style, and also adds more realism to the idea, making the doodles seem of more importance to our characters feelings rather than what the audience is being tricked into seeing.

For our title we came up with two font ideas we could possibly use:

^ Font #1 - This font is to mirror Katie's personality, as it is more feminine and would appeal more to our female audience. This font is called Edwardian Script ITC

^ Font #2 - Or we could use another font which is called Tahoma which is often associated with social networking sites such as Facebook. To make it more realistic, we'd add in the flashing text cursor at the end to make it look as if someone has typed the title of the film up. This title design reflects the narrative more than font #1. As 'Inside My Reality' is the name of our protagonists blog, and our font reflects social networking, it makes it seem as though it is our main character typing up the title, making it easier to connect with our audience.

Here is both designs on our chosen background:

We have chosen to go with the second design, 'Tahoma', this is because it link in more with the use of technology seen in the film, and reflects our narrative and characters profile. As well as the title and background, we added in the Facebook and Twitter profile links, this is to show our audience how they can find us using social media. Using social media will help target our audience easily, and will also guarantee the spread of the 'word-of-mouth', which is essential for distribution.
