Camera Style - Extreme Close-ups

In our film, we touch upon the issue of cyber bullying and use a lot of emotive language, therefore we decided it would be a good idea to incorporate a lot of extreme close ups, such as used in Catfish TV Show since we'll be showing messages our character Katie gets on phones and computer screens.

I like this style of camera work because it makes the audience feel like theyre the ones reading it. It makes the words powerful and emotive, and focuses the attention onto words being said and the emotions the character will be feeling.

In our film, we could link the size of the letters to the impact the words have on our character Katie i.e. if they are particularly hurtful they might be shown over and over again with their size increasing.

The way the message is being typed, and the camera work used to show the message being read is powerful in the sense as though it puts you in the characters position. It gets the audience involved by focusing there attention on that specific sentence. In our film, we could have the character repeatedly reading the hurtful messages the gets.

The cursors are used to 'point out' the important bits of information (example - bottom image with the arrow pointing out 'I love you') In our film we could again use that to point out the words that have the most impact on the character.
